If You Don't Choose the Right Affiliate Program, Making Money Can Be Difficult

With the thousands of affiliate programs available, It can be a daunting task trying to figure out which one is the best affiliate program for making you a lot of money. This is a decision that you don't need to take lightly. The last thing you want to do is devote countless hours of your time and depending on your marketing strategy, a considerable amount of your money to an affiliate program that's never going to make you any money. Some of the things you should look for when making this decision include:

- They need to have a good reputation of paying affiliates in a timely manner.

- If they have a lot of affiliate tools such as banner ads and html links that you can put on your site, it's a good sign that they are actively involved in their affiliate program.

- If they charge a monthly subscription to their customers, this is better for you, because this will keep the checks rolling in even when new sales are down.

- The most obvious is you want a program that pays generous commissions.

Once you have a list of a few products that you're interested in promoting, it's time to research them a little further. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways which include:

- Take the text from one of their text link ads and do a search using these terms with one of the major search engines. Make sure to put the text in quotation marks, so the search will show only sites that have that same exact phrase. This will give you a good idea of who else is promoting the same product.

- Blogs are another good place to find out more information. You can read the blogs of proven affiliate marketers and see what they have to say about the programs you're interested in.

- Send them an email asking them a question. If they don't respond to you within 24 hours, that's not a good sign.

- People love to vent on forums. These are excellent sources to see what people are saying.

The safest way to make sure you get paid for your efforts is to promote products that use a third-party company such as ClickBank which is responsible for keeping up with how much you're owed and is also responsible for sending out affiliate payments. These companies accept the payments from the customers and automatically take out your fee, so you know you're money is being set aside to pay you.

Another thing you want to make sure you do is make an anonymous purchase from time to time using your affiliate link. This will make sure your link is working properly, and let you know if you're getting paid like you should. I don't need to tell you that if you don't get paid, and your link is working properly, run from them. They will give you a bunch of excuses, but there's too many other companies that are trustworthy and organized enough to make sure people are getting paid correctly to fool with these kind of vendors. I don't have any use for a company that doesn't make paying the people that give them their sales and keep them in business a top priority and you shouldn't either.
